The white grape variety originates from Japan. Synonyms are Kosju Sanjaki and Koushuu Sanjaku. According to DNA analyses, there is a genetic relationship with the Koshu variety. Koshu Sanjaku was a crossing partner of the new varieties Cabernet Lion, Neo Muscat, Riesling Forte and Riesling Lion. No stock was identified in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
