Kossuth Lajos

The white grape variety is a Hungarian new breed between ( Madeleine Angevine x Muscat Lierval) x Duke of Buccleugh ( openly bloomed from Muscat d'Alexandrie ). Synonyms are Koshut Zolo, Kossuth Lajos Muskotaly, Kossuth Szoeloe, Kossuthtraube, Kosut, Raisin de Kossuth, Poma Varatica, Uva di Kossuth and Varatica. The crossing was done by Rudolf Stark. It was named after the Hungarian folk hero Lajos Kossuth (19802-1894), who proclaimed Hungary's independence from the Habsburg monarchy in 1849. It is a pure female grape, as table grape is used.
