Kouloura

Greek term (German "Kringel", also Koulouri or Klada) for a special educational system of vines based on the two Aegean Cyclades Islands Paros and Santorini is practiced. They are autochthonous sorts Aïdani Aspro. Athiri Aspro and Assyrtiko, The rods are after the pruning winding in a circle in spring; the shape of the bushy vines is reminiscent of baskets, wreaths or large bird nests. The leaves growing outwards protect the inner grapes against the eternal strong wind, whereby especially the summer Meltemi from the north is feared with fine grains of sand. In addition, the water from the precipitation, which is very rare in summer, gathers in the baskets that are often located in hollows.
