Kovacs Matthias

The winery is located in the municipality German Kreutz in the Austrian DAC area Mittelburgenland, Viticulture has been practiced in the family for generations. In 1993, the parent company was taken over by Hermine and Matthias Kovacs and started bottling. They are supported by son Michael. The vineyards cover over six hectares of vineyards on sandy loam and gravel soils with a high lime content. They are the red varieties Blaufränkisch , Zweigelt, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Müller-Thurgau and Chardonnay. The vineyards are processed close to nature, all steps up to the vintage are done by hand. Quality criteria are healthy, mature grape material, gentle processing and temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks. The top red wines are aged in oak barrels. For example, the premium wines include Central Burgenland DAC ( Blaufränkisch ), as well as the red wine cuvée "The five elements" from all four red wines. In weather-appropriate years, an ice wine is also pressed. It is also produced grape juice.
