Reed or vineyard site in the municipality of Gamlitz in the Austrian wine-growing region of Southern Styria (Styrian wine region). The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level and are shaped like a cauldron, facing south-southwest. The soil consists of permeable, sandy gravel, which gives the wines fresh and salty minerality. The white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc,Pinot Blanc, Morillon, Chardonnay and Welschriesling are cultivated here. Climatically particularly favourable parts of it are classified as "Große STK Lage" (see in detail under Styrian Terroir & Classic Wineries). The Jägerberg reed is part of the Kranachberg, other Subrieden are for example Rotriegl and Oberfahrenbach. Shares of the Kranachberg are for example held by the vineyards Hagen Holger, Pongratz Markus, Reiterer Christian, Sabathi Hannes, Sattlerhof, Skoff Peter and Schilhan Wilfried.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
