La Méjanelle

The appellation Languedoc La Méjanelle (formerly Coteaux de la Méjanelle) is located in the northeast of the French wine-growing region Languedoc, It was classified as AOC in 2010 and belongs to the second quality category "Grands Vins du Languedoc". The vineyards cover only about 50 hectares of vineyards on reddish clay loamy soils. They span the four municipalities of Castelnau-le-Lez, Mauguio, Montpellier and Saint-Aunes in the department Hérault, Red wine and rosé are made from at least 2 of the 3 main varieties Grenache Noir ( Garnacha Tinta ), Mourvèdre ( Monastrell ) and Syrah, as well as Carignan Noir ( mazuelo ) and Cinsault blended.
