The winery (in German "Die Eiche") is located in the municipality of Impruneta, 12 kilometers from Florence (province of Florence) in the Italian region Tuscany
, The villa with the basement dates from the 15th century. The property was bought by Gino Marchi in 1960. At that time all the vineyards were renewed and the bottling of the wines started. The current owner is Massimo Marchi, Marco Ferretti as managing director and Valentino Ciarlo as oenologist. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards. They are planted with the red wine varieties Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino and Merlot. The selective harvest takes place in two to three rounds with the aim of ripe and healthy grapes for the selection of different wine qualities.
There is a gentle, gentle Press
so as not to injure the berry shells. The red wines pass through at a controlled temperature maceration
with a special form of over-pumping, the so-called delestage. The premium wines include DOCG wines Chianti Colli Fiorentini
"La Torretta"; as well as the IGT wines "La Querce" (90% Sangiovese and Colorino, 20 months in new Allier barriques, at least 6 months in bottle) and "M" (100% Merlot, 30 months in new Allier barriques, min. 12 months in bottle). Around 25,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. 80% of these are exported to Germany, Switzerland, Japan, the USA and Canada.
