La Renaissance of the Appellations

The Organic Winegrowers Association was founded in 2001 by the French cult winemaker Nicolas Joly, Owner of the Loire winery Château de la Roche-aux-Moines (Savennières) founded. Wineries that subscribe to a natural, environmentally friendly winegrowing are eligible for membership ecological and or biodynamic Principles and have been certified to do so for at least three years. Common foundation is the Quality Charter, which was established by the founding members and the board, such as Nicolas Joly, Anne-Claude Leflaive and Olivier Humbrecht. There are well over 200 member companies from 18 countries, most of them in France. The wineries are classified with one to three green stars.
