Lacrima di Maria

The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Acrime Madonna, Lacrima Bianca di Maria, Lacrima della Madonna, Lacrima di Madonna, Lacrime della Madonna, Lacrime di Maria, Lacryma di Maria and Larmi di Maria. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it is a presumably natural cross between Graeco x Heptakilo (Axina de Tres Bias). However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular genetics). However, a DNA analysis carried out in 2019 revealed the parentage Heptakilo x unknown partner. It should not be confused with other Lacrima cultivars due to seemingly indicative synonyms or morphological similarities. The vine is used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
