Lado

The white grape variety originates from Spain. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2018, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Savagnin Blanc (Traminer) x unknown partner. The medium to late ripening vine is susceptible to fungal diseases such as botrytis and both types of powdery mildew. It yields fresh, acidic white wines with a neutral taste that are used for blending. The variety is cultivated in the Galicia region in the Ribeiro and Valdeorras areas. In 2016, two hectares of vines were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
