Named after the commune of Ladoix-Serrigny, the Village appellation covers 90 hectares of vineyards in the Burgundy Côte de Beaune region. More than 90% of it is used to produce red wines from Pinot Noir, as well as white wines from Chardonnay with some Pinot Blanc. As an alternative AC can only be used for red wines Ladoix-Côte de Beaune. The community has small shares of the famous vineyard Corton. They are allowed to use the Grand Cru names Corton and Corton-Charlemagne (see under Aloxe-Corton). The Premiers Crus comprise 24 hectares of vineyards. These are Basses Mourottes, Bois Roussot, En Naget, Hautes Mourottes, La Corvée, La Micaude, Le Clou d'Orge, Le Rognet, Les Buis, Les Gréchons and Les Joyeuses. Well-known producers are Capitain-Gagnerot, Edmond Cornu, Domaine Maurice Martray and Price Florent de Mérode.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
