The family winery is located in the municipality of Margreid on the wine route (Magrè sulla Strada del Vino) in the Italian wine sector South-Tirol (Region Trentino-South Tyrol ). The origins of the traditional company dates back to 1823 when Johann Lageder founded one in Bolzano Wine trade founded. The great grandson of the founder Alois Lageder III. bought the Ansitz Löwengang winery in Margreid in 1934. Today, the estate is managed by the Lagleder family in the fifth and sixth generations. Connected is the "Vinera PARADEIS", where you can taste and buy wines as well as dine. The kitchen of the certified organic restaurant offers dishes made from organic, regional and seasonal products.
Alois Lageder works closely with around 80 winemaking partners from all over South Tyrol and maintains partnerships with local farmers who supply vegetables and fruit for the restaurant. In the autumn and winter months, cows from a cheese partner graze in the vineyards of Alois Lageder, where they are due to the mild Climates Find enough food even in the cold season. Environmentally conscious operations do without fossil fuels and instead use renewable energies such as solar systems, water and geothermal energy.
The family-owned vineyards cover 55 hectares, those of the winemaking partners about 100 hectares. A specialty are the Mixed set French varieties grown Petit Manseng, Roussanne, Marsanne, Chenin Blanc and Viognier, from which the white wine blend "CASÒN Bianco" is pressed.
The winery practices Biodynamic viticulture according to the certified rules of the organic association DEMETER. In the newly built cellar with the latest technology with a 17 meter deep, round "wine tower", the grapes are pressed as natural as possible and by using gravity as gently as possible. The musts become part spontaneous fermented. Depending on the type of wine, they are in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or in Barrique expanded. They are produced in the categories classic grape varieties, compositions, masterpieces (from the best locations) and comets. The “KOMETEN” in limited quantities are the result of experiments. Every single bottle is individual because a white comet's tail is painted on the black label with your finger. The company's premium wines include LÖWENGANG Chardonnay and COR RÖMIGBERG Cabernet Sauvignon.
