The white grape variety originates from Armenia. Synoyms are Burra, Dana Bouroun, Dana Burnu, Dana Burny, Dana Burun, Glglan and Lalvary. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. The medium to late maturing vine is susceptible to both powdery mildew and botrytis. It is grown in the province of Tavush in north-eastern Armenia. The variety yields fresh white wines with moderate alcohol content and neutral taste, which are also used for sparkling wine production. It is also used as table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
