Lamb (Riede Austria)

A vineyard or site in the municipality of Kammern in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal. The name has nothing to do with the animal, but derives from the loam (dialectally "Loam" or "Lahm") that is abundant here. It is located on the south-eastern flank of the famous Zöbinger Heiligenstein vineyard, where this mountain merges into a gentle hill. The south-facing vineyards on a gentle slope consist of fertile, deep loess and clay soil interspersed with silt, volcanic rock and fossilised remains of ferns and bony fish. Here, above all, the variety Grüner Veltliner, which is predestined for this soil, and Riesling are cultivated. The Brandl Günther, Bründlmayer Willi, Eichinger Birgit, Hirsch Johannes, Jurtschitsch, Retzl Erwin and Schloss Gobelsburg wineries, for example, have shares in the vineyard.
