The red grape variety comes from Italy and is one of the numerous Lambrusco varieties, Synonyms are Lambrusco Bardi, Lambrusco Corbelli and Lambrusco di Rivalta. According to in 2005 DNA analysis it is not (as long suspected) with the variety Marzemino closely related or identical. The variety probably comes from the province of Reggio Emilia in the region Emilia-Romagna, The medium-ripening, productive vine produces deep-colored, tanninreiche and aromatic red wines. These are used for still and sparkling wines. It is in DOC wine Lambrusco Reggiano authorized. 18 hectares of vineyards were recorded in 2010 (Kym Anderson ).
