DOC area for sparkling red wines and rosés made from Lambrusco varieties in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. The zone covers 675 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Castelfranco Emilia, Castelnuovo Rangone, Castelvetro di Modena, Fiorano Modenese, Formigine, Maranello, Marano sul Panaro, Prignano sulla Secchia, San Cesario sul Panaro, Savignano sul Panaro, Spilamberto, Sassuolo and Vignola, as well as part of the provincial capital of Modena in the province of Modena. All wines are made from Lambrusco Grasparossa (max. 85%), as well as any blend of Fortana, Malbo Gentile and other Lambrusco varieties (max. 15%). There are the wine types Rosso Spumante, Rosato Spumante, Rosso Frizzante and Rosato Frizzante. All are available in all flavours from secco to dolce.
