Lambrusco Peduncolo Rosso

The red grape variety originates from Italy and is one of the numerous Lambrusco varieties. Synonyms are Lambrusco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Lambrusco del Picol Ross and Lambrusco Pjcol Ross. The name of the vine is derived from the red stems. It comes from the Val d'Enza in the Emilia-Romagna region. The variety, abandoned due to low productivity, was almost extinct. It was reactivated by winemaker Rinaldo Rinaldini (+2010) in the municipality of Calerno di Sant'Ilario d'Enza in the province of Reggio Emilia in the 1980s. It yields a purple red wine with moderate tannins and red fruit aromas. The parentage (parentage) is not clear. In the VIVC catalogue, it is not listed as an independent variety, but this name is given as a synonym for the Terrano variety. In 2016, no stocks were reported under the name Lambrusco Peduncolo Rosso (statistics Kym Anderson).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
