Lameiro

The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Branco Lameiro, Lameira, Lameirinho, Luzidia, Luzidio, Molarinha, Molarinho (Portugal); Branco da Lama (Spain-Galicia). The parentage is unknown. The low-yielding vine produces neutral-tasting simple white wines for blending. It was formerly cultivated in the Portuguese areas of Beiras (Beira Litoral), Douro and Minho. The variety is also permitted in Vinho Verde. In 2016, however, only 0.3 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
