Landot

The French breeder Pierre Landot (1900-1942) created in the period 1929 to 1942 in Conzieu in the Département Ain (Rhône-Alpes region) a variety of interspecific grape varieties. These so-called French hybrids were mostly very complex intersections Seibel- and or Seyve Villard-vine and / or with each other. These were, for example, Landot 16, 204, 206, 234, 244 (is Landal Noir ), 301, 304, 508, 540, 562, 709, 742, 760, 790, 1674, 1675, 1678, 1680, 2281, 2282, 2283, 2291, 2380, 2517, 2832 (U.S. Oeillade de Conzieu ), 2843, 3381, 3384, 3474, 3518, 4411, 4465, 4511 (U.S. Landot Noir ), 5400 and 6222. Many of these varieties are characterized by high resistance against frost, the phylloxera and various vine diseases, which among other things were the breeding goals. Some of them were for more new varieties used.
