The winery is located in the municipality of Oberwesel in the German wine-growing region of the Middle Rhine. It has been family-owned for over 200 years and has been managed by Jörg Lanius since 1992. The vineyards cover seven hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Bernstein and Goldemund (Engehöll), as well as Oelsberg (Oberwesel). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (85%) and Müller-Thurgau (5%), as well as Pinot Noir (10%). Near-natural viticulture is practised in the vineyards with, for example, cover crop with wild herbs, which are exclusively mulched. The wines are fermented spontaneously for two months in steel tanks with natural yeasts and then aged in old oak barrels. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and a pomace brandy are also produced. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).
