Larner Monica

Born in Los Angeles (California) journalist and wine critic Monica Larner (* 1970) moved at the age of 11 years with her family in their adoptive home Italy where she spent most of her life so far. After high school in Italy and California, she earned a diploma and bachelor's degree in journalism / journalism from Boston University and New York University. She began her career with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica and also worked for other newspapers and four travel guides. During this time she had the opportunity, the famous wine dynasty Antinori know. The father Stevan Larner (+2005) awakened in her the love of wine culture, what through traveling in Napa Valley as Sonoma County was deepened.

In 1997, the Larner family founded a winery in Santa Barbara (California), in whose construction she actively cooperated. In 2003 she became first correspondent in the Wine Enthusiast for Italian wines. In the next ten years, she evaluated a total of 16,000 wines and published in this respect, the work "Wine Enthusiast magazine's Wines of Italy". During this time she visited many winegrowing regions. Larner is an active member of "Ordine dei Giornalisti" and certified Sommeliere of the Italian Sommelier Association. Noteworthy are her awards "Best International Journalist" ("Comitato Grandi Cru d'Italia"), "Leader of Italian Excellence" ( Gambero Rosso ) and twice "Best Young Journalist" at the Vinitaly (2008 and 2010). In 2013 she replaced Antonio Galloni in Robert Parker's "Wine Advocate" for Italian wines.
