The white grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Laouset, Lauzet Blanc and Lercat Blanc. The parentage is unknown. It should not be confused with the Petit Courbu variety due to morphological similarities. The late-ripening vine is susceptible to botrytis. It produces spicy, alcohol-rich white wines with moderate acidity. The variety, which is threatened with extinction, is cultivated in south-western France and is permitted in the Béarn and Jurançon areas. In 2016, three hectares of vines were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
