Lenz Moser Family

The Moser family is one of the most traditional winegrowing families in Austria; the family history dates back to the 12th century. The ancestral home is located in Rohrendorf near Krems. Several family members have earned special merits in viticulture. Particularly noteworthy is Prof. Dr. h.c. Laurenz Moser III (1905-1978), the founder of the high culture form of education, which is also called "Moser culture" as a tribute to him. After a chequered history, three wineries have emerged from the former family winery:

Hochkultur - Moser Porträt und Demonstration Rebschnitt

Laurenz Maria Moser V. (*1956) ran the family winery in Rohrendorf until 1997. After the sale, he was responsible for building up the European branch at the Californian winery Robert Mondavi. In 2005, he returned to Austria and founded Laurenz V. with Dieter Hübler and Peter Schweiger. In 2015, he sold his shares to his partners. He is active as a consultant in China. The giant company Yantai Changyu built a new winery in the Ningxia region with an investment of 70 million euros and even included Moser's name in the name "Château Changyu Moser". Laurenz Moser V. also runs a wine trading company with top brands in Frankfurt a. M. in Germany.
