Designation for the large area of Bordeaux on the right bank of the Dordogne before the confluence with the Garonne and thus formation of the Gironde. It belongs to the so-called Rive droite and includes the appellations Castillon - Côtes de Bor deaux, Francs - Côtes de Bordeaux, Fronsac (with Canon-Fronsac), Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol and Saint-Émilion (with Satellites). The name derives from the port city of Libourne. The Merlot grape variety dominates here.
