The white grape variety originates from Croatia. Synonyms are Bilana, Gargania Bianca, Garganja, Dobrogoština, Lipolist Bijeli, Lipolista, Makoscina, Opacevina, Opacevina Bijela, Pacevina, Pacina, Plavac, Plavina Blanche, Plavinac and Zilarica. The parentage is unknown. It must not be confused with Hárslevelű (Lipolist) due to morphological similarities. Whether there are relationships to the red varieties Plavac Mali or Plavina (both Lipolist, Plavinac) based on synonyms suggesting this is not known. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
