Listán de Huelva

The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Listain de Huelva, Malvasia Rasteiro, Manteúdo, Manteúdo Branco, Manteúdo do Algarve, Mantheudo, Moreto Branco (Portugal); Listán, Listán Blanca, Vale Grosso (Spain). Despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities, it must not be confused with the varieties Manteúdo Preto or Palomino (Listán, Listán Blanco). The parentage is unknown. The late-maturing, high-yielding vine is resistant to drought, but susceptible to powdery mildew and botrytis. It yields neutral, low-acid white wines with high alcohol content. In Portugal, it is identified in the Alentejo and Algarve areas and in 2016, a total of 466 hectares. Stocks are also said to exist in the Spanish Condado de Huelva area (Kym Anderson).
