The red grape variety comes from Croatia, Synonyms are Ljutac, Plavac and Plavac Bedalovac. The name is derived from the acid-rich berries (the Croatian ljut means acid). The late ripening vine is generally very resistant to many vine diseases. It is only grown in the Kastela area west of Split. There it is mostly with the varieties Babic. Babica and Plavac Mali blended. However, no stocks were shown in 2010 (Kym Anderson ).
