Lodge

Designation created by the British trading companies in Portugal for the elongated warehouses in which port wines and Malaga wines finished, or stored and mature. The term comes from Portuguese loja (storage room or shop) from, in part, Armazém (Portuguese warehouse) is also common. Many such lodges are located in the postage Suburb of Vila Nova de Gaia.
