Along with Montagne, Puisseguin and Saint-Georges, one of the four communes located outside the Saint-Émilion appellation (Bordeaux) immediately north of the Barbanne river. These four are additionally allowed to put their name on the label, in this case Lussac-Saint-Émilion. The vineyards cover around 1,500 hectares of vines. The red wines are predominantly blended from Merlot, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pressac (Cot) and are similar to those from Saint-Émilion. The best-known wineries are Château Barbe-Blanche, Château Bel-Air, Château de Bellevue, Château de la Grenière, Château de Lussac, Château du Lyonnat and Château Mayne-Blanc.
