Producer description of "Weingut Andreas Männle"

The winery is located in the municipality of Durbach (Ortenau area) in the German wine-growing region of . It was first mentioned in 1561 and has been family-owned for over 100 years. The foundation stone was laid by Andreas Männle, who gave the estate its name, in 1919. Today, the winery is run by the third generation, Inge and Alfred Männle. The vineyards cover 14.5 hectares of vines in the solely owned single vineyard Durbacher Bienengarten. There is documentary evidence that viticulture was practised in the "Bennengarten" over 400 years ago. Here, mainly Pinot Noir and (Riesling) are cultivated, as well as the varieties Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Clevner (Traminer), Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and Scheurebe. After cool, controlled fermentation in stainless steel or barrique, the wines are stored on the es for up to 12 months. After gentle, aroma-preserving filtration, they are bottled. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies (fruit, marc) are also produced.
