Maligia

The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Malese, Malica, Malige, Maligia Omalise, Malis, Malisa, Malise, Malisia, Malixa and Malixia. It is thought to be related to Malvasia varieties; however, the parentage (parentage) is unknown. The medieval wine writer Petrus de Crescentiis (1230-1320) mentioned a variety called Malixia from Bologna around the year 1300. However, it is by no means certain that this was the Maligia. What is certain is that it was mentioned in 1644. In any case, it is a very old variety. The late-ripening vine is resistant to fungal diseases. It produces aromatic white wines with a high alcohol content, which are used exclusively for blending. The variety is cultivated in small quantities in Emilia-Romagna. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
