The white grape variety probably originates from Italy. In the VIVC catalogue, an independent variety Malvasia Bianca is listed, but no parentage (parentage) is given. Synonyms (ex VIVC) grouped alphabetically by country are Early White Malvasia, Moravia (Germany); Malvasia Bastarda, Malvasia Puntinata, Invarella, Iuvarella, Lavarella, Lavarella Verdana, Uva Greca and Verdana (Italy); Alicante Espagnol du Dão (Portugal); Malvazija Bela (Slovenia); Masovy Hrozon (Turkey); Malvasia de la Rioja (Spain); Sarga Malvazia (Hungary). However, it is not clear whether there is actually a grape variety with this name. Because in Wine Grapes no independent variety of this name appears, but is given as a synonym for the varieties Malvasia Bianca di Candia, Malvasia Bianca di Piemonte and Malvasia Bianca Lunga.
The picture comes from the Italian website below, which also lists an independent variety called Malvasia Bianca. The regions of Calabria and Sicily are given there as cultivation areas. The DOC/DOCG zones listed here are similar to those of the Malvasia Bianca di Candia variety. In any case, Malvasia Bianca is a synonym or homonym for several different varieties. In 2016, no stocks were reported under the name Malvasia Bianca (Kym Anderson). See also a list of all varieties with the name part Malvasia under Malvasia.
