The white grape variety comes from Portugal
, It is one of the numerous mostly unrelated varieties with part of the name Malvasia
(look there). It is genetically different from all other Malvasia varieties. The productive vine produces flowery white wines mineral
Notes and aromas of tropical fruits and herbs. It is used exclusively in the area Colares
Cultivated northwest of Lisbon, where it is often referred to as Malvasia. Because of the predominant sandy soil here it can ungrafted
be grown. The acreage in 2010 was 1,031 hectares.
