The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Assario Roxo, Boal Roxo and Malvasia Roxa. It is one of the many varieties with the name part Malvasia. It is a somatic mutation with reddish berries of the white variety Malvasia Fina. The variety is grown in the Algarve and Trás-os-Montes areas. In 2016, 24 hectares of vines were reported with a decreasing trend (Kym Anderson statistics).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
