The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms include Malvasia col Puntino, Malvasia Gentile, Malvasia Nostrale and Malvasia Puntinata. It is one of the many varieties with the name part Malvasia. It must not be confused with the variety Malvasia Bianca di Piemonte, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities.
