It is one of the numerous mostly unrelated varieties with the name part Malvasia (see there). Whether there is a relationship to the Californian variety Malvasia Aromatica di Parma regarding the synonym is not known. It is a purely female grape variety. Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
