The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Albara, German White and Valderbara. The parentage is unknown. The late-ripening vine is resistant to frost and both types of mildew, but susceptible to botrytis. It is a parent of the variety Lagarino Bianco. The variety yields fresh, fruity and acidic white wines that are also well suited for the production of sparkling wines. The variety is cultivated in the Trentino area ( Trentino-South Tyrol region). However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
