The appellation is located in the northeast of the wine-growing region Southwest France
, The former VDQS area was classified in 1990. The vineyards cover 160 hectares. The red wine is blended from the indigenous Fer Servadou (at least 90%), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Rosé is also produced in small quantities. Well-known producers are Domaine du Cros and Domaine Laurens.
