Mariental

Riede or Lage (also Marienthal) in the Burgenland DAC area Leithaberg (Austria). It is divided by a path between the two municipalities of Oggau (where Marienthal is written) and Rust. The Rust part was also called the "Großer Wald" (Great Forest) due to former forest cover and, after clearing of the forest, the "Große Maiss" (woodcutting). The name Mariental, which is once again in use today, is derived from "Moriteil" (dividing the Mark = border). The upper section is dominated by limestone sand with coral parts, some loam and a thick layer of humus. In the lower section there is alluvial soil. On the south to south-east oriented reed at an altitude of 160 to 220 meters above sea level, mainly the Blaufränkisch cultivated. The Kraft Harald, MAD Haus Marienberg and Triebaumer Ernst wineries, for example, have a share in the vineyard.
