Marimar Estate

The winery is located in Sebastopol 80 kilometres north of San Francisco in Sonoma County(California). The origin was the purchase of a large plot of land in 1986 by Marimar Torres (*1945), sister of Miguel A. Torres, president of the Spanish company Torres. A large part of the property with native species of flora and fauna remained untouched. The wine-growing operation was then started in 1993. The vineyards cover 32 hectares of vines in the AVA Russian River Valley sub-area of Green Valley. The varieties cultivated are mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as well as Syrah, Albariño (Alvarinho) and Tempranillo. Since the 2003 vintage, the vineyards have been cultivated according to the rules of organic and increasingly biodynamic viticulture. This includes, among other things, the promotion of beneficial insects for the purpose of controlling animal pests, cover crop between the rows of vines through clover and composting with pomace. Premium wines include those from the Don Miguel and Doña Margarita vineyards.
