The winery is located near Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid) in the DO area Ribera del Duero in the Spanish region of Castilla y León. It was founded in 1988 by Carlos Moro González. A restaurant is attached. The bodega was built half into a mountain. The vineyards cover 120 hectares of vines with mainly Tinta del País (Tempranillo). Grapes are also purchased. The product range includes a Gran Reserva, the site wines Pago de la Solanas Gran Reserva and Prestigio Pago de la Solanas, as well as the Reserva "Rento" and the Semicrianza "Melior". Under the company name "Grupo Matarromera" a number of other wineries are grouped together in addition to the parent winery. These are three more Bodegas in the Ribera del Duero area called Emina (42 ha), Renacimiento (85 ha) and Vermilión de Valbuena de Duero (4 ha). In the latter a Vino de la Tierra Castilla y León (country wine) is produced. The property includes Valdelosfrailes (60 ha) in the DO area Cigales and a winery in Chile.
