The red grape variety comes from Greece, Synonyms are Arachovis, Arachovitiko Mavro, Arahovitikos, Mavro Arachovitiko, Mavroudi Arachovis Noir, Mavroudi d'Arachova, Mavroudi of Arachova. According to in 2005 DNA analysis there is no (long suspected) relationship with the Bulgarian Mavrud (Mavroudi) or for Cypriot Mavro, The productive vine produces vivid, full-bodied red wines. It is in Boeotia Central Greece grown. No stocks were recorded in 2010 (Statistics Kym Anderson ).
