Mecsekalja

The vineyard is located deep in the southwest Hungary near the border too Croatia, It is also often named after the capital Pécs, to the (then called Sopianae) already in the antiquity Wine was grown. It is the warmest Hungarian area with mild winters and long hot summers with often drought, The vineyards on sandstone and loess cover about 1,000 hectares of vineyards. The main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cirfandli (Zierfandler), Furmint, Kadarka, Merlot, Kekburgundi (Pinot Noir), Olasz Rizling (Welschriesling), Sauvignon Blanc and Skürzebarát (Pinot Gris). It mainly produces white wines and sparkling wines.
