The winery is one of the most famous and oldest South Africa and is located in the wine-growing district Stellenbosch, It was founded in 1693 by the German Henning Huising after it by the governor Simon van der Stel (1639-1712) land was assigned. He called it “sea lust” and he also built the Cape Dutch style house that still exists today. The winery was purchased by Johannes Albertus Myburgh in 1757 and has been owned by this family for eight generations. The current owner is Hannes Myburgh, his cellar master Giorgio Dalla Cia is the only Italian wine maker on the Cape. The vineyards cover 160 hectares. You are with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc. Chardonnay. Merlot. Petit Verdot. Pinot Noir. Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier planted. The figurehead is the one in French barriques aged red wine "Rubicon" in the Bordeaux style (65% CS, 25% Merlot, 15% CF). But this must not be with the "Rubicon" of the California winery Inglenook Winery (formerly Rubicon Estate Winery). It will also be a “sea lust grappa” ( Tresterbrand ) distilled from different types. The most recent creation is the "Dalla Cia" line, with which young wines from Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are marketed. Around half a million bottles of wine are produced annually.
