Mega-Purple

Term for a concentrated gra pe must produced from Teinturier grapes such as Rubired. The product produced by vacuum evaporation is used as a food additive, but also for red wines with a weak colour to give them more sweetness and colour. This is also intended to guarantee a product that always tastes the same and meets consumer expectations. In this respect, one also speaks aptly of Coca-Cola wines. Allegedly, this is a procedure practised by many wine producers, particularly in California, especially for low to medium-priced wines. Similar products are Ultra-Red and others. See also under Flavouring and Wine Adulteration.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
