Born in California, Debra Meiburg has lived and worked in Hong Kong for many years. She works there in the wine trade, as a multimedia wine journalist on TV and radio, as an educator in wine education and as a wine critic, and was the first Masters of Wine from Asia. Meiburg gained practical experience harvesting in Chile, pruning in Bordeaux and cellar work in New York and South Africa. The versatile wine expert is active in numerous projects and areas related to wine. Her guide to the Hong Kong wine trade "Debra Meiburg's Guide to the Hong Kong Wine Trade" was published in 2011. She won an award for her book "Tasting Wine with Debra". A regular wine column of hers appears in the daily newspaper "South China Morning Post" (Hong Kong).
She hosts the TV show "Taste the Wine", which is broadcast on Cathay Pacific Airways (airline) and in 26 countries. Her one-minute video wine tips "Grape Moments" reach 60 million viewers in China every month. She also produces and presents the video series "Meet the Winemaker" with luminaries from the wine industry. Her wine quiz "Grape Cues" comprises 2,000 questions. Meiburg founded the first Asian wine competition, Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition, where she serves as a judge, as well as for many others. Among her many awards are inclusion in Decanter wine magazine's "Power List" in 2011, and "China Power List Award" from WINE Magazine (China) and "Premio Internazionale Vinitaly" in 2012.
