The winery is located in the municipality of Ulsenheim - Markt Nordheim (Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of
Franconia. It was founded in 1990 by the parents of the current owner by purchasing a small area of land as a hobby business and has now been fully run by Markus Meier since 2004. In 2012, the "Weinerlebnis" vinotheque was put into operation. Various events such as wine tastings, family celebrations and company events are organised here. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites
Reifenstein and
Steinbach (Sommerhausen),
Sonnenstuhl (Randersacker), Sonnenberg (Marktbreit), and Huttenberg (Ulsenheim). They are 80% planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Scheurebe, and 20% with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Domina and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The environmentally friendly,
sustainable cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines of the Franconian winegrowers' group ETHOS with the guideline "
ecological, economical & social". This includes, among other things, the complete renunciation of
herbicides and
insecticides,
cover crop, as well as organic
fertilisation. Only
physiologically ripe and healthy grapes reach the cellar through selective manual harvesting. Some of the wines are fermented
spontaneously. The quality pyramid consists of the lines "Weinerlebnis.Einfach Keuper", "Weinerlebnis.Lagen" and "Weinerlebnis.Pur". Depending on the wine type, the wines are matured in steel tanks, in large wooden barrels or in barriques. In years with suitable weather conditions,
Trockenbeerenauslese and
ice wines are also vinified.
Orange wine and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also vinified. Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the ETHOS, Vielfalter and
Slow Food associations.
