The winery is located in the municipality of Weyher in the Palatinate (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Palatinate. It was founded in 1885 by Valentin Ziegler. In 1999, the winery was taken over by Helmut Meier and his wife Barbara. After an apprenticeship as a winemaker at the Palatinate wineries Koch Bernhard, Siegrist and Christmann and training as a viticultural technician, their son Georg Meier has been responsible for the wine-making since 2005. The winery also offers holiday flats for rent.

The vineyards cover almost 17 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Michelsberg (Weyher), Altenforst (Burrweiler) and Letten (Hainfeld). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc ( Pinot Noir), Pinot Gris (Pinot Gris), Chardonnay, Silvaner, Scheurebe and Gewürztraminer, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dornfelder and Dunkelfelder. The house's premium wines include Riesling dry-Goldkapsel Weyher Michelsberg and Pinot Noir dry-Goldkapsel Hainfeld Letten. In addition, bottle-fermented sparkling wines, Secco (sparkling wine) and grape juice are also produced. The winery is a member of the Generation Riesling association.
