Melchior

Bottle oversize with the volume of 18 liters or the contents of 24 normal bottles. This giant size was formerly used for still wines in Bordeaux, Tuscany and South Africa. The name derives from one of the Three Holy Kings (alongside Balthasar and Kaspar) or "Wise Men of the East" of the New Testament in the Bible starting with the gold, frankincense and the newly born Jesus in the stable of Bethlehem myrrh gifted.
