Melt Johann

The family winery is located in the municipality of Joching in the Lower Austrian wine region Wachau, It is run by Johann and Monika Schmelz, who are supported by the two sons Florian and Thomas. In 2006 a new sales and tasting room was opened. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards in the vineyards of Buschenberg, Dürnsteiner Freiheit, Höhereck, Pichl Point, Stein am Rain and Steinriegl. These extend along the Danube Six kilometers long between the municipalities of Wösendorf and Unterloiben. The white varieties Grüner Veltliner (60%), Riesling (30%), Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and Weißburgunder are cultivated. The premium wines include the Veltliner and Rieslings in the regional brand qualities Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd. Around 60,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
